This jacket is a vintage West German Army (Bundeswehr) wool field or service jacket, also known by the nickname “Filzlaus” (German for ‘felt louse’). These durable wool tunics were a standard issue uniform item for the West German military during the Cold War era, particularly in the 1960s.
It is constructed from heavy, drab green or olive wool, designed for warmth in cold weather. The jacket features a classic four-pocket design with button closures, shoulder epaulettes, and the distinctive German flag patch on both upper sleeves.
